Good for Beach and town
Jadro
The beach in the middle of town, right on the promenade. First a swim, then an ice cream or something to eat – beach and town go together easily here.
Our tip Good for a day when nobody wants to get in the car again.

Good for Shallow bay & Kaštelina
Sapavac
A shallow bay below Kaštelina. A swim and the old Venetian fortress go together well here.

Good for A quiet afternoon
Kozjak
Sea in front of you, Kaštelina in view. A towel, the water and the old walls opposite – not much more is needed here.
Our tip Towards evening we like the view best.

Good for Landscape, not beach
Red Rocks — Duboka Draga
If you want to see a completely different side of Vir after a few beach days: red rocks, open landscape and sea.

A beach on the north-east side of Vir, if you want to try another corner of the island.

Good for A beach day on the mainland
Zaton
If you fancy getting off the island for a day, Zaton near Nin is one option for a whole beach day. The resort's pools are open to day visitors too, the operator says, and include a children's pool.

Kraljičina plaža (Nin)
If it's sand you're after, Kraljičina plaža is the beach trip over towards Nin.
Our tip Set off early in high season.

Near the Vir bridge, on the Privlaka side
Kažin Dog Beach
The official dog beach at Kažin is more than 100 metres long and fenced. A parking area and an access road are provided.

When we want a quiet Croatian dinner, Maslina is one of our places in town. Sit down, order, take your time.

If you're in the mood for fish and Dalmatian cooking, Punta Duba is one of our more traditional suggestions.

Good for Kids who want to climb
Adventure Park Zadar (Kožino)
When the kids would rather climb than swim after a few beach days: at Kožino there are courses and ziplines up among the trees. The operator sets a minimum height of 120 cm — roughly age five or six.
Our tip Closed shoes, and call ahead — the park opens on request.

Playground at Jadro
Handy with children: a public playground right on the Jadro promenade.

Salt fields and trail
Solana Nin
If you want something other than beach for once: at Solana Nin a marked trail leads through the salt fields, and there is the salt house too.

Mini Go-Kart Dalmatia
A small go-kart track in Ulica Luka XV., on the eastern side of the island.

Good for An evening by the water
Kaštelina at dusk
We like Kaštelina best towards evening. The old Venetian ruin stands right by the water, with Sapavac just next to it.
Our tip One more swim first, then up to the fortress.

Zadar
If you want a day away from Vir, this is how we'd do Zadar: first through the old town, then down to the Riva and the Sea Organ. If you stay into the evening, take in the Greeting to the Sun as well.

Good for A bit more speed
Watersports Vir
Jet ski, SUP and more, right by Jadro. When somebody wants more speed after a few quiet beach days, this is the easiest way.

Good for Vir beyond the beach
Dalmatia Quad
If you'd like to see Vir from somewhere other than the beach for once, a quad tour shows another side of the island. The tour is guided and follows island tracks to viewpoints.

Good for The grill at home
Fresh fish in Privlaka
A small local stop in Privlaka where we go to buy fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. Privlaka is nearby, just across from the island, so the stop is easy to fit in when you’re out by car.
Our tip Ask them to clean the fish for you — then all that’s left is to bring it back and put it on the grill.
