Uncomplicated beach days
Jadro
The long promenade beach of Vir town — easy, lively, with showers and beach bars. You can walk the promenade for a good stretch and get in the water wherever it looks inviting. Everything is close: coffee, ice cream, shade.
Our tip The morning swim is the calm one — the bars fill up from noon.
-
Shallow water, small kids
Sapavac
A shallow bay by the old Kaštelina fortress. The water stays shallow for a long way out, which makes it relaxed with small kids. The fortress right above the beach is a Venetian ruin from the early 16th century — worth the short walk, especially in the evening light.
Our tip Stay for the end of the day: a late swim here and the fortress at sunset go together naturally.
-
Landscape and photos
Red Rocks — Duboka Draga
A striking red rock coastline — the wilder, more natural side of Vir. Sea, open landscape, hardly anything built.
Our tip Bring your camera — this is the side of Vir people don’t expect.
Eat
-
Dinner, Croatian food
Gostiona Maslina
A good choice for a relaxed dinner and Croatian food on Vir. This is the kind of place where the dinner is the evening — you sit down properly, order without hurry and stay a while. It sits in Vir town, so an evening walk afterwards is easy.
Our tip Go here when you want to sit down properly in the evening and enjoy a slower dinner.
-
Fish, a traditional dinner
Konoba Punta Duba
A traditional konoba for fish, seafood and Dalmatian-style cooking. The food stays close to the region — grilled fish, seafood, the sides that belong to this coast. An easy way to have dinner taste like Dalmatia.
Our tip A good pick when you’re in the mood for fish and a more traditional dinner.
-
Burgers, drinks, easy evenings
Kraken Bar Vir
More casual than a konoba — burgers, wings and things from the grill, near Jadro. Our pick for the evening after a long beach day, when you just want to eat well and have a drink.
Our tip Choose Kraken when you want something uncomplicated rather than a long traditional dinner.
-
Pizza, casual meals
Pizzeria Martina
An easy choice for pizza on Vir. We’d go for a relaxed pizza evening together — order, share, take your time — without making a big programme of it.
Our tip Especially useful when everyone just wants something simple and uncomplicated.
Sunset
-
Sunset with a bit of history
Kaštelina at dusk
The old Venetian fortress from the early 16th century stands right at the water.
Our tip Combine it with a late swim at Sapavac next door.

A city day
Zadar
The old town is the trip: the Roman forum, narrow stone streets and the Riva. Down at the water the Sea Organ plays with the waves, and after sundown the Greeting to the Sun lights up.
Our tip Walk the old town first, then head for the Riva and the Sea Organ — and stay for the Greeting to the Sun after sunset.
Activities
-
A faster beach day
Watersports Vir
Jet ski, SUP and more watersports, right by Jadro beach. The straightforward way to turn a beach day into something a bit faster.
Our tip If you feel like some action after a few quiet beach days, this is an easy option right at Jadro.
-
Vir beyond the beach
Dalmatia Quad
Guided quad tours over the island — island tracks, coastal landscape and viewpoints. Depending on the tour, the route also passes the red rocks area.
Our tip For guests who don’t want to see Vir only from the beach.

For the grill at home
Fresh fish in Privlaka
A small local stop in Privlaka where we go to buy fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. Privlaka is the neighbouring place just off the island, so the stop is easy to fit in when you’re out by car.
Our tip Ask them to clean the fish for you — then all that’s left is to bring it back and put it on the grill.
